Instead of the traditional thermal efficiency for engines, the better name should be adopted. And, the new improved energy conversion theory for engines is adopted instead of the traditional energy conversion theory of thermodynamics. The following three ideas are applied in the improved theory:(a)Energy(quantity)of each change should be calculated on the cycle-lowest base(atmospheric condition)in place of the absolute zero base;(b)The energy required for compression work in a cycle can not be ignored; and(c)The phenomena taking place in the combustion chamber are only one part in the engine, and the brake(net)performance should be obtained by considering the entire engine. As a result, the provisional-net energy conversion efficiency in the entire engine in place of the traditional theoretical thermal efficiency in the combustion chamber is obtained by the improved theory. And, the efficiency has related closely to the brake thermal efficiency, and more, the theoretical forecast of engines development has been improved.

大気中溶射でNi-Cr合金中に形成される酸化物と加熱によるその変化

A nickel-chromium alloy powder containing 19.0mass% chromium was plasma sprayed and flame sprayed in air onto a mirror polished nickel substrate to collect individual splat and a grit blasted steel substrate to obtain deposits. Chromium oxide was hardly detected by electron probe microanalysis at the splashed splat/cold nickel substrate interface and was often present at the disc shaped splat/hot nickel substrate interface. The deposits were composed of alternate lamellae of alloy and chromium oxide. The alloy/oxide interface in the as sprayed deposits was smooth. On heat treating the deposits at 1073K, the interface becomes wavy, and at higher temperatures the oxide layer granulated. A mechanism is proposed for this granulation, which takes into account the balance of the interfacial tensions at the triple point at which a grain boundary in the oxide layer or the metal layer meets the alloy/oxide interface.

Modeling for the Optimal Co-scheduling Problem of Data Replication and Job Execution in Data Grids

 There are many challenges in Data Grids, and especially the data replication and the job scheduling are significant problems. There have been many works on the data replication and the job scheduling in Data Grids separately. However, there are still only a few works on solving those two significant problems together in Data Grids.  In this work, we propose the optimization model for the co-scheduling problem of the data replication and the job execution in Data Grids, which is more realistic and widely adaptable to real systems. We use 0-1 integer programming model to formulate the co-scheduling problem of the data replication and the job scheduling. Our final goal in this work is to find the optimal solution, that is, the data replication and job assignment, such that it minimizes the response time. The proposed optimization model will lead us this goal.
