 This study discusses the effects of the microstructure and the temperature change on the fatigue strength through fatigue tests conducted on six kinds of ferrite and pearlite base cast iron in which the graphite shape is flake, vermicular and spheroidal(hereafter referred to as FC, FCV and FCD, respectively). Four point supported rotating bending fatigue tests were carried out for six kinds of cast iron at room temperature and 400℃ in air. The fatigue limit was shown to be highest in FCD cast iron and lowest in FC cast iron whereas FCV cast iron took the value between the two in rotating bending fatigue test at room temperature. Even if these values changed due to matrix structure, when considering the large difference of tensile strength in the three kinds of graphite shape, the fatigue limit can be accounted as the same relative value. On the other hand, the fatigue limit of each cast iron decreased with the elevation of testing temperature up to 400℃. The fatigue limit of the FCV cast iron having pearlitic matrix at 400℃ was higher than that of the FCD cast iron having same conditions independent of graphite shape. The fatigue limit ratio of ferritic cast irons were higher than those of pearlitic cast irons regarding the matrix structure. This tendency was prominent in fatigue testing result at room temperature.

Quantum error-correcting codes have been developed as one of the promising tools for protecting quantum information against quantum errors. A great deal of effort has been made mainly to construct efficient quantum random-error-correcting codes. In this article, we investigate a class of quantum codes capable of correcting quantum burst errors, and present a list of some new good quantum burst-error-correcting codes of length less than or equal to 51.

 In this research, we propose a system that uses the chirp signal that is the frequency sweep signal for carrier. The proposed system does not need any complex code synchronizing system in the receiver, and, in addition, a correlation characteristic is improved by chirp carrier in CDMA. This report clarifies the relation between the correlation characteristic and the parameter of chirp carrier, and shows that the performance of multiple access is improved when the PN sequence with an especially inferior correlation characteristic is used.

Some of free electron lasers (FELs) have been operated as users facilities in the wavelength region from ultraviolet to far infrared. All of them are huge, set up in a special building excluding x-ray radiation, and maintained by some operators. Therefore, everyone cannot necessarily use them every time when he wants to do his experiment. If it is possible for him to use a small sized FEL in his laboratory, FEL will be extended widely in various fields of scientific investigation. We have been researching on a micro field emitter for a small sized FEL based on Cherenkov effect. In order to develop a Cherenkov FEL the physics on it must be clarified. In this note theory of the Cherenkov FEL is summarized for our future work by referring to some publications.
